Your Child Can Be a Better Speller With Your Guidance!

Help Your Child pay attention to how words are spelled. When reading aloud, tell them to stop once in a while to look at the words they are reading. Play spelling games together. Scrabble, Boggle, UpWords, or even an old favorite like Hangman can give your child practice in spelling correctly.
Make sure your child studies regularly. Set aside 15 minutes or so in every study session to review spelling words. At the beginning of the week, test your child on the spelling words. Spend the most study time on the unknown words.
Have your child make a tape. Making the tape can help them review the words. The tape will also free you from spending a lot of time on spelling words. Have your child write spelling words. Also have them say the words out loud. Correct any pronunciation problems.
